Kathleen Christmas is a graduate of the Louisiana State University School of Nursing Legal Nurse Consulting program. Since 2001, working closely with the State of Louisiana’s Attorney General’s office, she has assisted in the defense of medical malpractice cases filed against Louisiana health care providers. She and her team recently saved the state $1,000,000 in a case involving over 18,000 pages of medical records.
Additionally, she and her team assist plaintiff attorneys by preparing comprehensive medical records reports substantiating the severity and long term injury prognosis for catastrophically injured victims. A case in point involved the comprehensive review of over 35,000 document pages which yielded in a very favorable result for the plaintiff.
Kathleen’s Nurse Paralegal USA team also compiles detailed reviews of complex cases for both plaintiff and defense attorneys. Their expertise is also in the workers’ compensation arena, where they enabled an insurance company to help a catastrophically injured patient get personalized care, avoiding long term placement in a nursing home.
Ms. Christmas is a Certified Case Manager, with case management experience in both hospital case management and field case management for catastrophically injured patients. Her “hands on” experience in a variety of clinical settings, including emergency room, psychiatric and acute long term care is exemplary. Her administrative credentials include being a utilization review nurse both in the hospital and insurance company settings.
